Jazz Classes - Syracuse, NY
Tawn Marie's Dance CentreJazz Classes
Jazz is an exciting and creative form of movement. With a ballet base, it takes the confined positions of ballet a step further and allows the dancer to move freely. Jazz dancing includes isolations, stretching, turning and leaping. Styles of jazz include musical theatre jazz, funky jazz, and hip-hop. The basics of jazz are introduced in our Kinderdance program, followed with a 15 minute jazz class the next year. Beginner 2 students can begin taking a full Jazz Class, as can all other higher levels. Students of all ages enjoy jazz and should be accompanied by ballet class for optimal learning.

Lyrical / Contemporary Classes
Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance where the dancer interprets the "lyrics" of a song through movement. A more sophisticated form of dance with difficult movement, this class is offered to advanced dance levels and to students who are enrolled in ballet class.
